Savannah Dusk I (series)
This painting is part of a series of 12"+12" paintings of the marshes off Wilmington Island in Savannah, Georgia. The oak trees surrounding the marshes are quiet giants. At dusk they create a mystical atmosphere that is both soothing and peaceful especially those covered in Spanish moss found on most of the trees in both historic downtown and the many islands that surround the area.
After many photos I sketch out the composition in charcoal on hardwood panel that is 12"+12" and 3/4" deep. Once the composition is complete I spray fix the charcoal drawing and begin painting. Once the paint dries the fun part begins. I cover the painting with a hard resin wax, melting the wax over the complete image. The wax, when dry softens the image creating a mystic haze that captures the essence of the oak trees. The painting's surface is then buffed with a soft cotton cloth creating a velvet finish. Each painting is embellished with one or two Swarovski crystals.

As an artist my original one of a kind paintings have been sold and commissioned under my name Shawn Farley Black. I have worked with interior designers completing commissions for some of the most beautiful hotels and resorts world wide. I also have been a painter for over 20 years publishing unlimited edition artworks under the pseudonym, Shari White., hence the two names (same person.)
Over the last few years I have developed a certain style that now reflects what I love most; color, texture, atmosphere and harmony. Objets d' art that bring joy and inspiration to those that collect my work.
I love to create works of art that are uplifting and positive, meditative and spiritual. Everything I paint, draw and imagine is with gratitude and thanksgiving.
My hope is that as you enjoy a piece of art I've created you are fulfilled with a moment of beauty and thanksgiving.
We all have an opportunity to make the world better. I hope my objects of art in your home/office help you carry on that sense of gratitude that we are all blessed by the beauty that surrounds us and we can bless others.
"Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful for beauty is God's handwriting." Ralph Waldo Emerson
