"SweetPea was one of my most special dachshunds. I'm not sure why, maybe because she was the only one to live out of a small litter of three pups I birthed at home.
I had to nurse her for two weeks after her mom developed mastitis. I almost lost her two times. Once when she was a baby and got parvo and another time in her later years when she ate a piece of charcoal the size of a walnut.
I will always love her. She was with me all the time....especially when in the studio painting. This 9x12 jewel was done years ago when she was just a puppster. She passed away two years ago and I am so thankful for this painting I did when she was just a baby. I wrote on the back.....
SweetPea sleeps on the studio chair, 3:40 pm...Jan 23, 2007."
It's a jewel I will always treasure.
